內容：
陸游與表妹蕙仙相戀，另官家公子玉書也想得到蕙仙，他知道陸母迷信，便收買佛堂道姑和占卜先生，騙陸母說蕙仙命硬剋夫。陸游上京考試，陸母趁機把蕙仙送往佛堂出家。道姑帶來玉書，欲向惠仙施暴，蕙仙拼命掙扎，好友狄青及時來到，殺掉玉書和把佛堂燒毀，並邀惠仙暫居狄家。玉書死前疏通了朝中大官，將已高中狀元的陸游革去功名，終身不能出仕。陸母把災難推在蕙仙身上，不許陸游與她再見，更迫他另娶。陸游終日愁眉不展，終於鼓起勇氣偷會蕙仙，二人互訴離情。最後，狄青尋獲當日被收賣的占卜先生吐出實情，陸母得悉，
心內歉咎。陸游與蕙仙終成眷屬。
